Interview with Paul and Oli

Gespielter Song: "Du hast"

Paul: Die Leute zu begeistern, indem man auch Sachen macht, die vielleicht ein bisschen peinlich sind, aber dass sie was zu erzählen haben, wenn sie nach Hause kommen " Das musst Du unbedingt mal gesehen haben, die machen das und das".

Oli: Für mich bedeutet das, dass wir das Publikum polarisieren wollen und auch darüber nachdenken.

Paul: Und das ist ja eigentlich auch das Wichtigste, dass man eben die Leute nicht langweilt, mit Wiederholungen; was sie überall schon mal gesehen haben also in jedem Fall sich nicht selbst wiederholen; oder versuchen, sich weiter zu entwickeln.

Paul: Eine Band existiert eigentlich nur, wenn sie Musik macht auf einem Konzert.

Oli: Direkt der Beweis, ob es gut ist oder nicht, also man hat einen guten Indikator im Publikum.

Paul: Immer, wenn das passiert, dann ist die Band am Leben, d.h., solange wir spielen, leben wir noch.

Als wir angefangen haben mit pyrotechnischen Sachen (was) zu machen, gab’s schon solche Momente, aber mittlerweile ist das eine professionelle Crew, die da mitkommt und alles so macht, dass nichts passieren kann. Aber unsere ersten Konzerte, da hat der eine Gitarrist schon richtig Benzin im Publikum ausgekippt und angezündet, was im Nachhinein vielleicht doch ganz schön gefährlich gewesen ist.

Paul: Wir haben z.B. so `nen Rauch, der kommt bei dem Lied "Asche zu Asche" von der Bühne runter und der ist hochgiftig. Der ist...wenn manchmal Leute Kunstflug machen mit dem Flugzeug, dann haben die manchmal so `ne Rauchfahne hintendran, `ne rote oder `ne blaue oder `ne weiße; und das haben wir auf der Bühne, das ist ganz eklig, da muß ich immer fast kotzen, Entschuldigung. Da denkt man jedes Mal auch: warum machen wir das bloß? Aber irgendwie finden wir das auch gut.

Oli: Und dann im nächsten Jahr eine kleine Pause haben, um dann am Ende des Jahres wieder neue Musik zu machen.

Paul: Weiterhin Spaß haben am Musik machen; und vielleicht, dass wir mal `nen Hit schreiben, der weltweit Erfolg hat.

Paul: To enthuse people also by doing things which are a bit embarrassing, but give people the possibility to talk about it when they are coming home "You have to see them, they do that and that".

Oli: For me it is that we want to polarise the audience and to think about it.

Paul: And the most important thing is not to bore the people, with repetitions, with what they have seen over and over elsewhere; and not to repeat oneself; or try to develop.

Paul: A band only exists while playing a concert.

Oli: The direct proof, if it is good or bad; the audience is a good indicator.

Paul: Every time this happens the band is alive; i.e. as long as we play we are still alive.

("Mein Teil" is played)

When we began to use pyrotechnics there were those moments, but now we have a professional crew who is responsible for that, so nothing can happen anymore. But at our concerts in the beginning of the band one of our guitarists really poured petrol into the audience and then lit it; in review it really was quite dangerous.

Paul: We have that smoke, which is used with the song "Asche zu Asche", and which is coming down from stage. It is highly toxic. It is used in stunt flying where they use it in different colours, white, red or blue. We use it on stage and it is disgusting; I always feel in need for vomiting then, sorry. That’s when you always think: just why are we doing this? But at the same time we like it.

Oli: And then next year having a short break, to start with making new music at the end of the year.

Paul: Still to enjoy making music; and maybe that we make a song which is internationally successful.
