Rammstein head up K!-Friendly ‘xXx’ soundtrack
RAMMSTEIN have bagged a starring role in 'xXx' at the personal invitation of director Rob Cohen. The industrial sextet filmed the movie's explosive opening sequence – which sees armed 'goons' pursuing a hapless secret agent into a Rammstein concert in a church - late last year. In the scene, the Berlin band's incendiary performance of 'Feuer Frei' is unaffected by the gun battle which rages around them. Somewhat unfortunately however, their excited audience mistakes one slain spy for a stage- diver and the corpse ends up at the centre of a raging mosh-pit. Nasty.
Rammstein's contribution features alongside tracks by Queens Of The Stone Age ('Millionaire') Mushroomhead ('Before 1 Die'), Bush mainman Gavin Rossdale ('Adrenaline'), Flaw ('Get Up Again') and Drowning Pool ('Bodies – Vrenna 'xXx' Mix) on the 'Music From And Inspired By xXx' soundtrack, clue for release through Universal on October 14. 'Feuer Frei' will be released as a single on October 21 through Universal.
Kerrang asks: Are you ready for 2002’s loudest film?
Hollywood goes extreme with 'xXx'
UK Cinema-goers are bracing themselves for the imminent arrival of 2002's loudest film, the all-action spy spectacular 'xXx'. Touted as a 'James Bond movie for the extreme sports generation', 'xXx' features 'The Fast And The Furious' star Vin Diesel as Xander Cage, an authority-hating extreme sports nut, threatened with prosecution by the US government unless he aids the National Security Agency's bid to thwart a Russian plan to unleash global anarchy through the use of chemical weapons.
Set in Prague, 'xXx' features all the traditional spy/action film staples - high tech gadgets, maniacal villains, relentless gunplay and beautiful women - plus a succession of outrageous extreme sports stunts performed by Diesel under the watchful tutelage of extreme sports legends Tony Hawk and Matt' The Condor' Haffman, who make cameo appearances in the movie.
"I was such a rebel on set," says Diesel, 'but it was part of the character. I gravitate towards flawed heroes. Hero figures are rare; to be able to relate to them, that's the key.”
The film, which re-unites Diesel with 'The Fast And The Furious' director Rob Cohen, topped the US cinema charts upon its Stateside release on August 9. In five weeks it has already taken more than $130 million at the US box office.
'xXx' opens nationwide on October 18
