PoA – The Forum, Los Angeles 29-Sept-01 : Metal Hammer

Metal Hammer – December ’01
The Pledge of Allegiance tour is the latest metal extravaganza to plough through America's arenas. And tonight's LA stop is opened by newcomers NO ONE who, along with the make-up clad MUDVAYNE,offer a real musical maelstrom for those of us lucky enough to make it into the venue early.
However the vast majority of the assembled gig-goers arrive to catch Germanic riffmeisters RAMMSTEIN putting on an amazingly elaborate show for a mid-bill band. Making his point from the get go, vocalist Till Lindemann sings set opener 'Mein Herz Brennt' enguifed in flames, red laser beams shooting from his eyes. The Teutonic terrors punctuate their Wagnerian industro-metal with all manner of bangs, flashes and breaths of fire that can be felt in the back rows. Rammstein are entertaining for sure, but resemble more of a Las Vegas cabaret show than a rock'n'roll band. But all power to them for doing their own thing, proudly singing in their native tongue and spending a small fortune to (literally) light-up a potentially lukewarm crowd.
