Neue Musik – Rammstein “Mutter” – “Ulysses”
April 2001 - “Ulysses”
You can accuse the Electro-metal mixture that is Rammstein of a lot of things. That they are colourless & systematic. That each guitar chord is precise to the expected second and the texts of Till Lindemann are a strange mixture of stale romantic pathos and macho brutality. But Rammstein have style - or at least they are unmistakable. You can’t reliably identify many bands after the first five seconds. With Rammstein you can.
You feel they have a genuine quality. Conversely you also know that the band does not have any spectrum, their cosmos is small; above all they have reached their limits. Long-drawn-out. But the fans are pleased: Rammstein manufacture a most reliable product. It never changes; it always has the same quality, no matter where one buys it. Briefly: Rammstein are like Coca Cola (mw)
