Christoph Schneider – “God for a day….” – Metal Hammer
December ’01
What would you be the god of?
“There’s Nordic gods such as the god of thunder, and the god of the sun so I guess the god of metal has probably already been taken! I think I’d have to settle for being THE God – the God of everything”
Who would you aim a lightening bolt at?
“I wouldn’t want to aim it at anyone because I wouldn’t be an angry or vengeful god”
Who would you make a saint?
“I wouldn’t make anybody a saint because everyone is a saint, the problem is that not many people know it. So as God I wouldn’t make anybody a said, because I’d know they were holy already – it’s just when that individual will recognise the fact”
What part of your body would you make bigger or smaller?
“If I am God then surely I’m perfect? The first step towards considering yourself a God is to believe that you are perfect, and as God I am perfect”
You can now have sex with anyone: Who?
“Well I can have sex with anybody in the whole world right now – it’s just a question of whether they want to. But, as God, I’d take whoever’s handy!”
Who would you have sitting on your right hand?
“Trust. I’d have trust on my right hand because people should trust in God, not believe in God”
Who would be your antichrist?
“People who believe in me. Because people who believe in something today will believe in something tomorrow”
Which musical genre would you erase from history?
“I actually enjoy watching videos of the sort of music I hate the most. I just enjoy watching the videos for the most hideous music imaginable so it’d be a shame to erase anything like that from history”
If there was one even in your life that you could change, what would it be?
“I wouldn’t change anything. I think everything happens for a reason, and if it didn’t I wouldn’t be here today”
What is your eleventh commandment?
“Don’t talk about something you haven’t experienced personally. Nowadays people only talk about what they’ve seen on TV, and not about what they’ve experienced personally. You are getting arguments that are pre-chewed by somebody else, and you’re simply making your mind up from things that have been created and coloured by somebody else. I know from my own experience looking at reports about Rammstein how wrong people can be. So if I see reports about something else it just makes you question whether it’s true or not”
