100 Gigs that shook the world - Kerrang! 18-Oct-03
At no. 80 Rammstein
Wuhlheide, Berlin, Germany
August 22, 1998
Already hailed as one of the most depraved live acts to ever grace a stage, Rammstein not only decided to up the ante, but film it for what would later become their ‘Live aus Berlin’ DVD. Playing before 17,000 perspiring fans in an enormous festival just outside of Berlin, the industrial sextet proceeded to set themselves on fire, launch pyrotechnics over the crowd, and ‘row’ dinghies across the heads of the audience. The finest moment came when Till Lindemann bent his keyboard player over, and proceeded to, er, simulate anal rape with a huge, spurting dildo. Now, that’s entertainment.
